Alright, I’m sure you’ve all heard the remarks Rev. Pat Robertson had to say. I have a comment on this. Okay, so I grew up on this guy… I mean my mother used to watch his show religiously (irony haha). Anyways, as I grew up I became more of an more independent thinker, as appose to when I was young. Instead of dismissing this as idiocracy; which it is; I’m going to clear it up for those that might actually take Rev. Robertson’s claim seriously.

First of all, I think we all can recall the New Orleans incident. That natural disaster also was “God’s wrath” or “curse” according to Rev. Robertson. Because we’re talking from a biblical standpoint, I’d like to bring up a couple of things to your attention. God gave the Isrealites endless opportunities to find Him. The people kept making false idols and worshipped other gods. Tirelessly God simply kept re”saving” them. I also recall Jesus saving a woman who had commuted adultery. Ofcourse, he said, “he who is without sin cast the first stone”. God is loving, not seeking revenge on unsuspecting beings.

Also, it’s clear to me that Rev. Robertson must feel a certain way about black people. Yes, voodoo existed. Yes we worshipped “gods” as did virtually every civilization. What makes the Popes who became false prophets, asking for indulgences, any better? What makes white settlers who took land from the Indians and enslaved lesser advanced races any better? And how exactly does an entire nation sell their souls to the devil in the first place? How exactly could every person agree to this? Does the devil suddenly appear and offer them a contract? Why in fact, would the people do this? I think the conservative right, has so underplayed fact, that any claim suddenly becomes fact. Do I believe everything I’m told, certainly not. Do I believe everything a Reverend, Priest or Pastor tells me? Ofcourse not.

The most shocking thing I’ve ever heard a Pastor say from the pulpit, would be from Kenneth Copeland. He smirked and said “global warming doesn’t exist”. I fidgetted in my seat and looked around, only to see a relieved crowd laughing with him. It was mind blowing to see a man be so ignorant, but yet speak with such confidence. After he uttered those words, I could no longer even take anything else as credible information. And no, this wasn’t, say 2001, when doubts were imminent, this was in 2009!

Pastors… please don’t try to be political… and remember, your teaching faith, for all you know it is all hypothetical.
